This is a painting I made in my studio in Lowell, MA in the spring of 2018. I started this painting on a sheet of raw canvas. That means straight off the roll, not stretched around a frame, and not primed with gesso. I spread the canvas over my work table and doodled on it with a sharpie marker to start to get a composition going. On top of that I sprayed the canvas with water and worked the water into the fibers of the canvas with a rubber paint spreading tool. Then I dripped low viscosity acrylic paint on the canvas and spread that around and into the wet fibers, where the pigments spread out creating a sort of dyed effect with nice soft gradients. This painting also includes layers of poured paint, bright patches of heavy body acrylic paint smeared in thick striped of primary yellow and red, doodles in brightly colored Krink brand paint markers, and paint applied in carefully controlled dripping processes. I've been incorporating elements of collage into my work recently, and this painting has some stickers in it. Both little QR code serial number stickers from a project at my other job and a shiny KRINK promotional sticker in the middle right.
