This is one of my unique art forms, a Wool Painting, created out on linen of felted wool, canvas, embroidery stitchery and fabric paint. I spent a year in London, years ago, studying the 19th century British sailors' "Woolies" art created aboard ship during the long dull hours between whale sightings, battles, or arriving in port. Framed and under glass.

As a child growing up on Cape Cod, I had the wonderful opportunity of being taught and mentored by Ralph and Martha Cahoon renowned American Folk Artists. Both of my parents were skilled artists, and so, I was taught to mix oil paints when I was four. Soon, I moved on to watercolors and then, finally, to acrylics. Better suited to my impatience to get on with the work, because of their quick drying quality, my years of experimenting were over. Since then, I have dedicated my time and talents to improving my painting skill and developing my own unique style within the genre that encompasses folk art, American art, primitive art, naive art, historical art and maritime art. Cape Cod and Nantucket (the busy whaling center in the nineteenth century)were the vibrant historical subjects in which I was immersed as a child. Later, I included Maine in my New England portfolio. In 2001, I made an unforgettable trip to Provence where I fell in love, again. This began a new collection entitled, IN MY TRAVELS as I soon added the English countryside, Portugal and Old San Juan to my retinue. Cape Cod Life magazine called my work "Time travel on canvas" and a featured article in Country Accents referred to me as "A sophisticated Grandma Moses." My work has been shown in fine art galleries from coast to coast for four decades. It is in public and private collections worldwide, including the permanent Americana collection of the Tokyo, Japan National Art Gallery. I took a five year hiatus from my art to write fiction. Now, with a number of best selling INDIE Author/Publisher mystery novels to my credit, and more coming, I have returned to my first love. Step into my canvases to live in a world that was slower paced, more in tune with the diurnal rhythms of the day and the tides, and where everyone knew the neighbors and the neighbors' dogs and cats. Walk the seaside streets where sturdy New England houses stand strong against the winds and snows of winter, and ships pass by regularly. Come along with me as I (and you) slip away for a dose of historical therapy. Enjoy!
