Helena was born in Prague, since 1991 residing in Lysa nad Labem, the Czech Republic. Since her childhood, she very much loved nature and enjoyed painting. Helena greatly admired leading adventure books illustrators such as Zdeněk Burian and Emil Kotrba who excelled in their ability to paint action scenes of brave heroes and animals, especially horses. Helena was honored to get to these great artists in person. Since 1967, as a student of professor František Nedvěd, a great portrait painter, Helena later started to learn general drawing techniques, abstract art, and graphics. Then, she learned some materials modelling techniques from professor Věra Roeselová-Novotná. Later, under the supervision of above-mentioned famous academic painter Emil Kotrba, a lover and an expert on horses, Helena started to specialize in horse-painting. To understand animal anatomy, she learned know-how from an academic sculptors Zdeněk Uchytil and Bohumil Pražan from the Czech National Museum in Prague. At the beginning of my painting carrier, Helena first focused on classical oil-on-canvas paintings capturing mainly horses and dogs. Since 2009, she also focuses on animal photography (exotic photo-expeditions from all around the World) and nude acts. Ultimately, by focusing on both painting and photography, Helena discovered and became a fan and a big promoter of PHOTO-PAINTING. Photo-painting is an art method which combines a wast variety of classical art (drawing, painting, and plastics) with photographs together edited in a computer by a graphic editor in order to create a unique and absolutely original art work.
