The Rise and Fall of Myth. What would happen if legends lived among us today? Neil Gaiman wrote about this in his book American Gods. This acrylic painting is part of a series that has as its theme one of these myths, the Minotaur, which has a strong presence in the history of art, is particularly fascinating in the work of Pablo Picasso, who produced a large series of works in several different techniques with painting, drawing and engraving. This first work in the series shows a Minotaur wearing a dress shirt and long pants, as well as carrying a ring on his finger, a creature of myth dressed as an ordinary man. The irony seems obvious to me, or at least I like to believe it is.
