About The Artwork

The painting is in our personal collection. The inspiration for the painting is my Wife (Sculptor in Iron & Glass) daughter of Stanislaw Skura collaborator of Henry Moore. There is a long Artistic / Historic connection in our family. My family had lived in Wawa in the '50s and my Parents had built a number of houses and an Apartment House on Beck Avenue in the Town; having built a number of family houses at what is now central Sault Ste. Marie; all still standing. My Motorcycle stands in the foreground, with Danuta sitting behind. The Portrait is a painted collage in front of the Wawa Goose and our Children. Ever since childhood I have loved Silver Birch trees. It is noteworthy that the Group of 7 had visited the area. The Dunns (patrons of Dali) had owned the Mines in the area Helen Mine & James Dunn open pit. This painting was started in Canada in 2012 and completed this year in the UK.

Shaun Donovan Fine Artist. I was born in Canada to an Irish Father and English Mother. My early years were in Northern Ontario. My Family moved to Ireland in the early 60s and I was brought up on my parents' Dairy Farm. This was quite a dramatic change of life from Canada in the 1960s to an Irish Farm very much of the 1800s. I believe my life experience was very unique learning to ride and drive horses as well as caring for, milking and driving cattle to market. Breeding and being a 'midwife' to a couple of Sows at two o'clock in the morning. I am Canadian, Irish and British. I live in the UK.
