About The Artwork

a body as an organ system. many things happen in a body, in a continuous birth and death. relationships are established between these organs, violent, docile, competitive, collaborative. giving this body a meaning, a destination, is that these relationships become constructive or destructive functions. and in this, all desperate acts to be preserved. when in a company of actors one of them is missing, another must learn his role, his texts, his forms. When a group of people is entrusted with a mission, various qualities emerge that assign a function to each one. when in a family one of them grows old or dies, another member takes his place and it is natural that they adopt his voice, his words, his gestures. As a stand-in actor, she plays two characters, constantly changing her costume and makeup, until someone else takes over her original role. there are functions so necessary that they simply cannot be resigned. like a body that has a leg amputated, it must balance and balance on the remaining leg.

I am Leonardo Miranda, a plastic artist born in Buenos Aires in 1977. I was raised in a theatrical and artistic environment, in which I cultivated a taste for decorative styles, classical architecture and scenographic aesthetics. During my adolescence, I became passionate about mathematics, and discovered the pleasure of connecting seemingly dissociated ideas and constructing universes of abstract thought. That's how I decided to explore my more abstract side and formally study mathematics at the University of Buenos Aires. However, I would soon discover contemporary art and philosophy, which would fuel a hunger for exploration and, over time, I began to experiment with painting and create my own work. I try to give a touch of intrigue and enigma to what I do, but I also have works that are simply beautiful or curious. I like to think that my art is like a visual puzzle, that stops time in my gaze. My path as an artist has been a bit chaotic, but that's life. I get carried away by the emotion of the moment and am always looking for new ways to express myself. My art is like me, direct and raw, but with a touch of beauty and mystery.
