About The Artwork

In-situ urban sketch of the west end of the ruins of St. Andrew’s Cathedral during the beginning of Storm Barra in December 2021. Cathedral construction started early in the 12th century, and took 150 years to complete. It's destruction started in the 16th century during the reformation, when a mob ransacked the interior. Then over the next couple of years the local townsfolk borrowed bits and pieces for home renovation projects till eventually it all fell into complete ruin. Nicely dramatic especially seeing it stand up to the storm. Sketch is drawn live, and is across the fold in a moleskine sketchbook in prismacolor pencil.
