About The Artwork

Antemurale Europeanis, the work is based on the problem of the 2016 refugee and migrant crisis in Europe. The painting portraits a moving train passing thru the Croatian-European Union border. The train instead of the train company logo features the emblem of the Islamic State (former ISIS) and is full of refugees and migrants. Next to the border sign are a mass of people waiting to pass through the border. The work tries to show that the migrant and refugee crisis is only the ''top of the iceberg'' of that major problem, leaving the space to question how was it even possible that such radical group could come in power and shake the demographic balance of such large regions. The painting is featured on the cover page of eight number of the ''Obnova'' interdisciplinary magazin.
