About The Artwork

The painting "The Grand Mosque" depicts a woman standing in front of a majestic mosque in Africa. The mosque is an impressive structure, with intricate designs and details that showcase the beauty of Islamic architecture. The woman in the painting stands in front of the mosque, her silhouette a stark contrast to the intricate details of the mosque's walls and minarets. Her presence in the painting serves to emphasize the scale and grandeur of the mosque, while also highlighting the role of Islam in African culture and history. The painting also captures the atmosphere and mood of the scene, with a sense of calm and serenity pervading the image. The soft colors and gentle shading create a peaceful and contemplative atmosphere, inviting the viewer to reflect on the beauty and spirituality of the mosque and its surroundings. Overall, "The Grand Mosque" is a beautiful and evocative work of art that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Africa and the important role that Islamic architecture has played in shaping the continent's history and identity. The painting invites us to appreciate the beauty and serenity of this sacred space, while also recognizing the cultural diversity and richness of Africa as a whole.

Here's a 2021 Artist Interview Farook had at the Athenaeum which aired on DSTV Channel 260: https://youtu.be/o5B_-HaJhNE From the Artist: "I come from a very diverse family background and have family in nearly every part of the world. I was born and raised in the beautiful Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, Eastern Cape, South Africa. I’ve traveled around the country and made home of our other noted and beautifully vibrant cities such as Johannesburg and Durban but I’m now back in my hometown. I’m also a collector of rarities and other valuables, an artist by nature and my work is influenced by world history, my own diverse family background which I can trace “spanning continents”, I’m also influenced by my physical surroundings and global events affecting us all (some of my works are a bit controversial and it adds some fun and spice for collectors who buy my works with the aim of making a buck or two or simply because they love and appreciate my creative expression), it’s all very unique, always tells a story and looks like the kind of artwork you’d usually find in an old money home. I’ve taken part in National and International Art competitions such as the Mzansi Art Gallery Competition & Exhibition 2021, The 2021 New Now Emerging Artist Competition hosted by Galerie NOKO, sponsored by VANSA [Visual Artist Network of South Africa], L’atelier [Continental, Sponsored by ABSA Bank] and Climanosco (Switzerland) for Art And Science on the topic of Global Warming and Rising Water Levels & State of The Art Gallery Competition on the same theme of Global Warming. I have a lot more to say and add but will be updating my journey along the way.
