That painting was created in a series in which I look for the form of stars, the Sun and study the imperfect shapes of a circle - as it is in space - because neither the Sun nor the Earth are perfect spheres. Similarly to the art of the East - the sign of Enso, a simple, unclosed circle is unique and characteristic for one artist each time, and the form of the sphere created from a single gesture is fascinating and reveals new forms, new spaces. This cycle is a journey into the invisible. Color is very important to me. I use liquid watercolors - ecoline - it has a unique pigment emanation, the colors glow, they have amazing saturation and depth. It is very difficult to photograph and difficult to reproduce on monitor screens. Especially this series should be watched live, in direct contact with cotton paper, soaked in vibrating color. The yellow dwarf is a stage in the life of a star. The most famous example of a yellow dwarf is the Sun. Other stars of this type include alpha Centauri A, tau Ceti, 51 Pegasi, and Kepler 452. Yellow dwarfs usually have a mass between 0.8 and 1.4 solar masses and live about 10 billion years.

I move between different styles, combining abstraction with figuration. Concerning themes and my color palette, I have no restrictions, with one exception: I avoid dramatism in depicted situations. Only the scale between extensive backgrounds and minor human figures or vehicles is constant. I am inspired by Dutch painting, especially by Peter Breughel. I like to think of my paintings as a kind of poetry without words. http://www.artminnow.com/index.php/2017/04/14/a-conversation-with-grazyna-smalej/
