I created The Matrix painting during the height of the COVID 19 pandemic. Basically I had a lot of time on my hands and a huge big studio mostly to myself as most of the artists had vacated it during this time. I used my time to make art, and a lot of paintings were created during this time. The title is based on the movie The Matrix, in particular the opening credits of the digital code falling from ‘the sky’. Silver, blue, with hints of purple this horizontally composed painting is an allegory to The Matrix concept and film. The layers are comprised of words both handwritten and from a stencil - some decipherable, others etched deeply into the painting and undecipherable.
