A high-contrast, high-detail, charcoal drawing of a sprinbok's pronk. One of the most spectacular events in the Southern African desert and semi-desert. This stiff-legged, bushy-tailed jump is done to ward of predators and to attract females when love is in the air. I've been wanting to draw this phenomenon for a while now but could never quite find the right composition. This one is perfect. I love the tension, the dynamic line and pregnant white space in front of it.

Work Rational With my work I aim to make the viewer pause for a moment to admire an object of my desire. I quiet the background and any other possible interference so that the viewer can experience the beauty of that particular object without any outside influence or preconceived ideas. My fascination with these objects lies in their unique detail. I aim to capture as much as possible for the pure enjoyment of the onlooker.
