Karen Howley is an Irish abstract artist who works with water colours, milk and glass to create expressive abstract compositions that often capture emotions. Composition and use of colour blending is of strong importance in her work. It was with her RGBeats project in 2011 that she began painting abstract pieces. Her latest work has shifted towards photography and digital imaging but the abstract focus is still very much there. She graduated with a BSc in Multimedia from Dublin City University in 2007. A triptych video installation I worked on in my final year at DCU was selected for display in the RDS Student Art Awards that same year. Aside from spending a brief period as a volunteer in The Model Art Gallery, she has continued to work in media since graduating and produces live streams of every variety for Aertv, an Irish Online TV company.
