Sarah Skinner Ruh is a contemporary painter based in the United States. She was born in Kansas, grew up in Indiana, and then lived in Austin, Texas for more than a decade before returning to West Lafayette, Indiana, where she now resides. She earned a BA in Fine Art at Purdue University, with a focus on painting. Her work features complexly layered surfaces, and the subject matter is frequently informed by a fascination with the natural sciences, particularly climate science, geology, and biology. She most frequently works in acrylic on canvas with a palette knife, building up thick layers of paint that are repeatedly scraped away and reapplied in the process of creating the final surface.
