Amber Shack is an artist living and working in Portland, Oregon. She works in many media formats including (but not limited to): acrylic, digital, pen, pencil, and photography. Amber started her art at an early age while her mother attended college at Pacific Northwest College of Art, attending classes with her, and often even getting to take elective classes on her own. This fueled the fire within, and from there on Amber studied as much hands on art as she could get her hands on. From makeup artist and photographer, to interior and industrial design in college, to digital and print ad design for magazine and web developers; she has immersed herself in many art fields. Now it seems, she has come full circle... A return to self expression through painting and illustration. With influences such as: Rothko, Pollock, Mondrian, O'Keeffe, Ad Reinhardt, and Kline, she considers herself an "action" or "gestural abstract" painter. Often donning a set of headphones while working, Amber drowns out the rest of the world while, "Allowing my body to transform the sounds into gestures with paint". The results are often heartfelt and evocative, and sometimes downright amazing. "be fearless, follow your heart"
