Behind the canvas and paint brushes is Jesamine V. Totañes ( JVTotañes) (1982) Filipina, born in Butuan City Philippines who lives and works in Assen The Netherlands. She paints diverse subjects, but portraits are her favourite. She loves to work with real models, and then continue working in her small atelier in Assen. She finds eyes the most intriguing part of the portrait, thats why she spends more time on it. JVtotanes believes that eyes are the soul of the portrait. Besides people she also loves to paint wild animals and pets. She paints cityscapes when she travels. Abstract is her yoga. Jvtotanes works with oil paint, graphite, charcoal, watercolor and acrylic. Last year, she started painting anything about Philippines. JVtotañes feels like in a timemachine if she paints - filipino faces, food and landscape, it's her way to escape homesickness. Her latest collection after the "Movement" theme from 2014 is "Philippines is Beauty: Beauty is Philippines." "I've been searching for that tickles and goosebumps, and I found it in you Philippines, my home, my country." -Artist:jvtotanes
