I paint my pictures in the style of realism and impressionism. Both picturesque lyricism and festive decorativeness are close for me. My favorite genres are still life, primarily floral, and land- or seascape. I create my pieces from inexhaustible nature, usually in the alla prima technique. The technique implies creating a picture in one session, aimed at quickly capturing a vivid impression of a changing nature. In still life, it’s important for me not only to paint the main, illuminated objects – dominants, to “sculp” their shapes: shadows often cease to be just a physically inevitable addition to them, not only set off them, but also become almost equal heroes of the picture. For me, flowers are the embodiment of pure, valuable in itself Beauty, that exists to be, not to have. At the same time “…not even Solomon in all his glory and splendor dressed himself like one of these”. Therefore, a floral still life is a window into Nature. It is an island of quiet contemplation, a window into the world of Beauty.
