Contemporary British artist Ray Chapman was born in Lincolnshire, but has travelled extensively, living and working in London, Dublin, Seville and Paris for periods before returning to Northern England where he currently lives. A self-taught artist, Ray has expressed his creativity in many forms over the years, in music, writing, poetry and art, in many cases successfully and to some critical acclaim. His artworks are abstract in nature, and are recognisable for their colouration and use of textures. Much of his work is inspired by musical themes and the idea of visualising sound. This obsession is a result of Ray’s impaired hearing and his desire to document sound as he experiences it. His artworks have been sold to private collectors around the world.
