ABOUT THE ARTWORK

ARTWORK DESCRIPTION: "Phoenix. Diurno" by Rina Garon After it burns to the ground, it is reborn again from the ashes. In many cultures, there are stories about the Phoenix, a bird with purple, orange, and gold flame-colored feathers. The phoenix is the eternal flame, the faith, the will, and the passion for life. ARTWORK DETAILS: ◘ This piece of art is part of the collection under the general name "El Arte Diurno". ◘ Watercolour on textured acid-free paper. ARTIST STATEMENT: In the collection "El Arte Diurno & Nocturno", I explore the enigmatic inner world of human emotions. "Diurno" represents the light we share with others, while "Nocturno" symbolizes the hidden mysteries within ourselves. Through this interplay, I aim to evoke a sense of wonder and introspection, revealing the beauty found in imperfection and the hidden depths of our existence. In my artistic practice, I delve into the realm of color inversion, developing a distinct painting technique that merges traditional watercolor with digital art. By redefining the principles of painting, I transform colors into their reverse meanings, creating a unique visual language. Through computer manipulation, I break the physical constraints of paint layers, reshaping the relationship between space and form. With the "Diurno" collection, I invite viewers to contemplate the beauty found in the shared aspects of our lives, embracing the power of light and the significance of connection. The medium of watercolor enables me to capture the nuances of emotions and bring them to life on paper, creating a visual narrative that resonates with the viewer on a personal level. ✎Thank you for your attention to this artwork. "Phoenix. Diurno" is available for sale as an open edition print. If you have any questions about any of my other paintings, please feel free to contact me via the Saatchi Gallery support service. Sincerely, Rina Garon

Rina Garon is a contemporary artist who develops and explores her own painting technique based on color inversion. Combining traditional watercolor with digital art, the artist redefines the principles of painting by transforming colors into their reverse meanings, combining different components to create a specific color set in the positive of the drawing, and reflecting the idea of the artwork in its negative. Using computer manipulation, the artist breaks the primary physical order of paint layers visible to the eye on paper, and transforms the ratio between plane and space in the drawing, giving it a new depth, a new truth of perception in the digital format. The artist unites all her works by the common name "El Arte Diurno & Nocturno", drawing an analogy with the mysterious inner world of each person, invisible to others, colorful bright in its emotions, and beautiful in its imperfection. “Diurno - It's the light! What we show others, the emotions we share. A white sheet of paper on which we pour out our feelings. Nocturno - It's a mystery hidden in the darkness. Intimate, too personal! The other side of the light, invisible to others, but always present in us” Rina Garon was born in 1985 in Uzbekistan, in the sunny city of Tashkent, where more than a hundred nations, cultures, and religions coexisted peacefully. The artist has Caucasian roots. This contrast of cultures has built a strong bond in the artist's self-definition. It is a deep connection between different ethnicities, her historical roots, and her personal experience. From an early age, she attended art classes. At the age of 12, having passed an entrance exam, she was accepted to the School of the Arts, where she studied drawing, painting, and composition for 5 years, graduating with a diploma thesis. After that, Rina Garon continued her art education at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Kamoliddin Behzod National Institute of Art and Design in her city, where she received a bachelor's degree in book illustrations and graphics. During her studies, she participated in poster competitions and won various prizes. In 2008, with an anti-drug poster, she won the Grand Prix in a major competition organized by the National Institute of Art, the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, and other socially significant cultural organizations in her country. After graduating, Rina Garon started working in the technique of painting - airbrushing and co-founded the airbrushing studio "2MORROW”.
