BIO P.Thomas Wood I am a Canadian artist who was born in Surrey, British Columbia. I obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, and a Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia. I have worked as an Art educator, teaching High school Art. I work with colour theory, visual perception, Mathematics, patterns, and Gestalt (“The sum of the pieces make up the whole”- Bauhaus). From Prehistoric to Modern times, civilizations have employed repetition and patterning as if to convey a secret language, mathematics or meaning within visual perception. When investigating the microscopic world, the rituals of patterning reflect the hidden mathematic complexities of diamonds, DNA, cellular structures, and fractal geometry to name just a few of the many examples of patterns, which nature has to offer towards the concept of Gestalt. I have works in private collections in North America. I works in oil paint, mixed media, oil and archival ink digital multi- media, Ceramics, Sculpture and printmaking. Art does not answer questions, it simply asks more questions.
