Born in London in 1978. Studied Art and Design at Barnett College (1996 to 1999) and Visual Arts in Drawing at Camberwell College (2000-2002). He graduated in 2002 with Honours. Having worked in Film and Television as a Matte Painter (both traditional and digital), David has returned to practising painting and drawing. His most recent body of work explores landscapes, inspired predominantly by the vast mountainous region of Otago in New Zealand, but also by regions of England. He paints in oil from sketches and memory, and the intent is that the works are more an emotive response to a place rather than a direct representation. His drawings and paintings convey an immediacy, an urgency both of technique and intent. When discussing his work, David emphasises the moment of the present and that the works are very much contemporary, despite traditional materials and subject matter. This blog primarily documents David's work and work in progress. Details of forthcoming exhibitions to follow.
