I am a Portrait Artist, an Illustrator and a Cartoonist. And on the canvas is where these passions meet. Inspired by Pop Art, I incorporate elements from current-day popular culture into Portraiture. My passion for Pop is complimented by my love of bright colours. The true beauty, however, lies in the process. Working in a combination and variation of Oil, Acrylic, Ink and Encaustic, I place a fair amount of emphasis on the element of chance. The “Splash” technique simultaneously forces me to relinquish control while allowing selected mediums to bring their own unique stamp to each piece. Having spent half of my life with my nose in Comic Books and the other half engrossed in Movies, I, like so many others, draw my strength from caped crusaders like Superman and pixled role-models like Archie Andrews. Over the past couple of decades, thanks to mass-media, more and more people are embracing their love of Superheroes, Epic Adventures, Fantasy and Wonder. It is this Awakening that fuels my art. It is about man’s ability to believe and his ability to draw strength from that belief. It is about becoming something greater by believing in something greater.
