This painting was completed at Mother’s Beach in Kennebunk Maine one fine Morning at low tide in the early morning sunrise which gave the horizon a purple hue. A new day beginning giving hope to us all. The solace this painting exhibits with a hint of excitement for the new day.

Born in Montreal, Canada Lives in Southern Maine My paintings and photography are a reflection of what I desire to capture of this beauty and grace - this magical place where the earth, sea and sky meet. They are merely abstractions which capture the true essence of such a meeting - losing sight of the shore - glimpses of the natural world as they present themselves. Becoming an artist was a necessary happenstance due to the tragic events on 9/11. Living in the heart of New York City on this fateful day with my two young children, I escaped the brutality of our new world by painting my first canvas - "Solitude" and capturing the beauty of landscapes and seascapes. Although, I received no formal training in the arts and photography, the blending of colours expressed with simple and graceful brushstrokes on my canvas - capturing the true essence of nature is innate to me. I find solace recreating the soothing imagery of the tranquility of the sea and all that surrounds this mystery - when every bit of beauty, peace and security is suspended in time. It is in the boundless wonders, hues, light and temper of the sea from which I derive my inspiration. A letting go - a subconscious process - with no need for rigidity, boundaries, definition or reason. Communicating through the creative mediums of painting and photography allows one to share lasting experiences and impressionable memories from a blank slate. Widening our visual, intellectual and emotional horizons - removing barriers, and thus enriching and enhancing our lives. It is through this process that the seemingly mundane becomes more meaningful. Having lived in two beautiful, vibrant cities the first half of my life, and spending summers on the Southern Coast of Maine, I have been exposed to a paradoxical mix of beauty and harshness. I was born and raised in Montreal. I completed my Undergraduate and Graduate Studies in Anthropology, Foreign Languages and Middle Eastern Studies at McGill University. In 1990 , I married and relocated to NYC where I lived for 21 years. Following my dream of living full time by the sea, I relocated with my family to Southern Maine in June 2011. I opened my own art gallery and completed several commissioned works. I continue to focus on my painting, photography, home styling and redesign and real estate - among many other things - all of which give me great joy and insight into this thing called life.
