Jonathan Mark Centeno, born in 1978 in the culturally rich and diverse city of Toronto, Canada, was profoundly influenced by his formative years spent on his father's farm. Despite the urban splendor that surrounded him, it was the ever-changing tableau of nature that captivated Jonathan's imagination. These seasonal transformations became the foundation for his textured, vibrant canvases. It was Jonathan's father who initially encouraged him to capture these fleeting moments, first through sketches and subsequently on canvas, marking the genesis of his artistic journey. Jonathan's earnest consideration of art as a vocation began in high school, where he encountered the influential artist Pietro Adamo. Adamo's mentorship ignited Jonathan's creative potential and nurtured his burgeoning passion for abstract art. Before fully embracing his artistic calling, Jonathan pursued an Illustration Diploma from Sheridan College, which facilitated his employment as an Illustrator/Graphic Designer for several Fortune 500 companies. While working as an illustrator, Jonathan's intrinsic passion for creative experimentation on canvas was reignited. A fortuitous reunion with his former mentor, Adamo, solidified his resolve to return to painting. Today, Jonathan's oeuvre is inspired by the landscapes that envelop him, ranging from the tranquil forests of Northern Ontario to the dynamic urban scenes of Toronto. These diverse environments continue to fuel his artistic pursuits.
