South Africa- 1951. Taught by my parents who were both artists ARTHUR CANTRELL & FAYETTA VARNEY. I presently live in Mallorca after 30 crazy years in Madrid. My artwork comes from many different inspirations, but as I mostly paint women, I think the inspiration is obvious. (not my cat). I enjoy playing with rennaissance stuff in a modern context and I have lots of fun with erotic themes, just because it allows me to bring out my naughty rebellious side. Recently I have been exploring large scale portraiture using charcoal as my main medium...messy stuff! But I´m getting textures I wasn´t able to get previously and I think my work has gone to the next level. (how many levels are there, by the way?)
