Painting: Alcohol Ink on Paper. The Artwork in the Metamorphosis series is both dreamlike and evocative. Not everyone who looks at it will see the exact same thing, but they will see something. My initial background was academic. I have a BFA in Art History, an MA in French, and had an internship at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. When I started creating my own art I was drawn to realism and I spent many years studying the fundamentals of art. I've taken classes at the Art Institute of Chicago, Lill Street Gallery, The Evanston Art Center, and from working artists in their studios. In fact, throughout my evolution as an artist, I have always worked for mastery of the medium and subject matter. I have consistently worked with teachers and other artists to achieve these goals. From there I had 10-year career as a muralist & decorative artist (aka faux finisher). During those years I learned to work in multiple styles, techniques and materials as were dictated by the clients or environments. Now I am back in the studio creating vibrant abstract paintings. I have lived in the Chicago area my entire life except for 3 years in Austin, TX and 3 in Paris, France.
