Naomi began painting actively in 2009. Over the course of the past 13 years, she has come to focus on both representational and abstract landscapes. While some of her images are taken from photographs, others are created from her imagination. Naomi’s abstract works are often created in vibrant, saturated colors. These works have been valued by collectors over the years for their subtle variation in hues, their texture, and their calming effect. The softness of these works is due not only to the hues she creates but also to her technique of applying and blending the paints with her hand. Naomi’s more recent mountain landscapes have taken her in new interpretive and technical directions. Inspired by a trip to the French Alps in 2019, she has developed a more minimalist (but no less complex) feel that allows her to confront shadow and light in new ways. Whereas her abstract work often draws on clouds, mists, filtered light and soft edges, these mountain landscapes offer sharp edges and definitive shapes. Naomi has had an active interest in the arts since her childhood but has pursued a varied professional life. She holds a BA in History and Russian Area Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and speaks French. Her wide-ranging interests and training have allowed Naomi to work in a number of fields including web design, political consultancy and ESL education. Naomi is a native of St. Louis, Missouri, where she lives with her husband. Collections More than 140 works are held in private collections throughout the United States as well as Canada, England, Italy, and the Netherlands. Commissions Commissioned works have been created for collectors in St. Louis, San Francisco, and Miami. Artist talk 2021 Artist talk for memory care residents, 3 McKnight Place, St. Louis, Missouri.
