The artistic work of Omar Sahe aka Ocelotécpatl is made of these reflections to take us to his Mesoamerican origin and to understand the identity of the Mexican and the Latin-American people. Through his pictorial work, Sahe reuses symbols of different cultures such as the Mexica, the Mixtec, as well as the Huichol culture, appropriating an abstract aesthetic that functions as an interactive and mystical medium with the viewer thus breaking with the structure of the everyday to connect with the roots of man. The symbolism of the pieces reminds us of nature: animals such as the jaguar and the deer are revealed through metamorphosis to show their powerful state through the force of the brush strokes. Thus, each animal is transfigured into a story with mythical energy. The Tlacuilos -the ones who write painting- were the painter-writers of Ancient Mexico. A Tlacuilo is the one who has a vast knowledge of his reality and who, through his pictographic work, could transmit his knowledge in the codices -codex- (ancient Mexican books) This is how Sahe considers himself, more than an artist, a Tlacuilo. Sahe's work is a struggle against the oblivion of our deep roots, forging an art identified with Mesoamerican culture, creating an aesthetic recognition with its abstract forms, its colors and its dynamism.
