Born, living and working in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to this day. By the age of ten I was already drawing so much I turned my cupboard into my first studio space with a desk and my art supplies. I was also having re-occurring dreams that I still remember to this day. Both parents’ artists themselves made sure we had art materials around and were encouraged to be artistically expressive. When I was in my early teens my father started taking me to the Contemporary Arts Museum in Montreal once a month were I saw shows by great artist of the time, Paul Klee, Magdalena Abakanowicz, Louise Nevelson and Judy Chicago to name a few… After we sat by the river and talk about ART. Having re-occurring dreams also at this stage of life, with the same story line repeating themselves and then the Final Episode dream that resolved issues, I realized something important was taking place in my dreams. I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up so applied and was accepted at Concordia University for a Math major, French minor. After registering and being accepted, I was unhappy and when asked, realized that I could not imagine myself doing math for the next four years… My favorite class at Cegep (college) was a complimentary ceramics course. I applied to go back to Cegep for a Technical certification. This was a full time multi-disciplinary program in the arts with a major in ceramics. I did painting, drawing, sculpture, metal and art history. My favorite photography, which still is with me today. I was hooked on the life as an artist from the beginning. When I graduated my husband and I left for a year of travel in Europe. We did 15,000 miles in a camper van from England to Yugoslavia as far south as Greece and as far north as the Netherlands. Our trip consisted of searching out Art wherever we could find it. We visited local and international art exhibitions wherever we went. I saw the ancient greats as well as the contemporary up and coming of the time Bill Woodrow, Richard Serra, Anish Kapoor etc Art History in real time… We returned home at the end of a year for my entrance interview into the Fine Arts University Program at; University of Quebec in Montreal, where I was accepted and graduated from. Painting under Denis Demers I was unleashed on the canvas and encouraged to explore my own energy input and output. With sculptor Jean Yves Cote I was using plastics.
