Miray is an Egyptian self-taught artist born in 2000 in Cairo, raised and based by the sea in Hurghada, Egypt. Her love for art began at only one and a half years old, but her passion reignited stronger than ever in recent years. She began creating, exploring, and learning more deeply. From there, I found myself drawn to embracing the chaos and contradictions that life offers, and the beauty of the unexpected, seeing art as a pathway out of the so-called reality—a space for dreaming and exploring beyond limits. This perspective naturally led me to collage and mixed media, which have become my favorite tools for their boundless opportunities. I cherish their spontaneity and boldness, embracing mistakes as catalysts for new ideas and approaches. These mediums liberate me from the constraints of rigid technical skills, allowing me to focus fully on the art of expression. I use art as an ultimate no-restrictions personal outlet and a means to create a connection with others and humanity. I also think it’s a tool that warps the world ugliness in our eyes providing everyone a private —perhaps shared— intimate sanctuary. I decided to make it an integral part of my survival journey in the world. Even during times when I’m not actively engaging in art practices, I can still see and feel its presence subtly incorporating it into my everyday life. And I personally believe that art retrieves what the world, by its nature, doesn’t offer.
