ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is a landscape based upon memory, the subjective experience of a time and place. It is based within the romantic tradition of art, with influences coming through such artists as Caspar David Friedrich, Samuel Palmer and Andrew Wyeth, to name but a few. It is painted in oil paints predominantly for my love of using them. The depth, time and tactility involved in using oils are an essential element in the wholeness of the picture, and which gives it life.
