Monika Morito's art is particularly influenced by her origins in the Philippines. Having spent her early years there with her family, she feels a deep longing for her homeland. Through her art, she captures her own intimate emotions and instants of nostalgia and shares them in a deeply personal abstract style. Her creative process begins very intuitively, in moments of introspection in which she explores her feelings and memories elaborating them emotionally. Monika Morito builds and stretches all her canvases herself. She usually paints several canvases at the same time, alternating between them instinctually and taking breaks to allow herself to be inspired by life´s happenings and encounters; only when she feels ready she resumes her work. Being strongly connected to natural elements such as the sea and the sun, she aspires to awaken the same connection and feelings of warmth in her viewers. Monika Morito studied and worked as a communication designer in Munich for several years. Since 2021 she has been working as a independent artist in her studio in Munich. She has exhibited internationally in Germany, France, England and Spain.
