The subject of my painting emerged when I looked out the window and spotted a construction site, by chance, in a school building in 2011. I was nervous to see construction workers walking on scaffolds high up in the air without wearing safety helmets, basic safety equipment.
After that, I expressed scaffolds, which have been my steady interest, as tree branches. Now the tree branches are expressed with the plants Korean Dendropanax and Loquat. The reason why I started painting these plants is because other people also wanted to know about them, and I wanted to create a healthy space through my work. Although that space is expressed through my view and sensibilities, the depth of emotion being delivered to others can vary depending on their own experiences, sensibilities, and environments.
