A layered paper map of Australia. Each of my pieces are hand-cut and then constructed by hand to create a vibrant 3 dimensional piece of art. The colours in this piece represent the cool blue seas and tropical green forests of the outer areas of the country moving through into the deep hot red centre. Dehumidified and sealed in a custom made white wooden box frame with acrylic front for preservation purposes.

Contemporary artist, Chloë Natalia, makes meticulously hand-made 3D works made entirely of paper. The last year has been an exciting year for Chloë with her work gaining huge recognition and being included in the exhibition ‘Wisdom & Nature’ held at Christie’s in both London and New York. She also currently has work as part of the 'Voice's in British Art' exhibition alongside the likes of; Damien Hirst, Harland Miller & Marc Quinn. This exhibition will be on until the end of the year at Kerridge's, The Corinthia, London. A self-taught artist, Chloë uses a plethora of experiences from her life and work to influence her work, using paper as her main medium, though recently also branching out into manipulated photography. She draws inspiration from the natural world, in particular the sublime forms and geometry of the botanical and the floral. Chloë also references her huge passion for music and music culture in her work. Able to split her time between the Spanish island of Ibiza and the UK, she has found in Ibiza, much inspiration from the vibrant and free-spirited island, its ethereal backdrops of Nature - from its earthy planes to its turquoise waters - as well as its long-held synergy with music for which it is so well known. Each is an influence on her work at every step of the process. When working with paper Chloë employs specific methods of cutting, layering, structuring and sculpting the paper to create 3-dimensional wall sculptures, which have become popular with collectors through her exhibitions both in the UK and abroad. The majority of Chloë’s work is hand-cut with a surgical blade and scissors. She has resisted the temptation to rely entirely on machinery, enjoying the meditative aspect of working by hand and allowing the process to remain organic. The medium of paper offers the possibility of translating forms into clean lines which offer a sort of harmony to the viewer’s eye. The works blend an organic flow with a mathematical quality, with her main goal being to make work that both intrigues and seduces. Chloë’s work has been included in exhibitions in the UK, the US and Europe and she is regularly working on commissions from a variety of collectors and followers of her work.
