Muddy Waters, born McKinley Morganfield, was an American songwriter and guitarist, generally considered "the father of the Chicago blues". He is also the father of blues musicians Big Bill Morganfield and Mud Morganfield. Considered one of the greatest bluesmen of all time and one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century, Muddy Waters was the inspiration for the explosion of British beat music of the sixties and a reference point for bands like Rolling Stones and Yardbirds.
