Blue Man Painting

I was inspired by the meditative stance of this young man on the subway. I see my work as cultural anthropology, where I related people's gestures, clothing, and attitudes in public spaces. I wanted to limit the image to a dominant color. Gouache is a comfortable medium for me, besides oil paint. I sketched it first and translated it to a larger paper. The diversity and variety of ages and sexes on the street and on public transportation is an enriching experience that I treasure. I try to imagine people's lives that I capture. This work is unframed and would need to be framed in archival materials by the collector.
