“Spring” was inspired by a meadow of wild flowers which struck me one Spring day on my way home – the flowers were so natural and beautiful, I just had to stop to look at them. This acrylic painting on canvas is an abstract expressionist representation of that spring landscape, with rich shades of green and a splattering of yellow and blue wild flowers, just like the ones I saw that day. The painting is signed on the front, and signed, titled and dated on the back. It measures 39.5 x 39.5 x 1.5 inches and the edges of the canvas are painted. A signed certificate of authenticity is included with the artwork. I create my artwork using 380gsm acid-free 100% cotton canvas pre-stretched and primed with staple free edges, specifically designed for acrylics. I use professional quality, purely pigmented Golden Heavy Body acrylics with excellent fade resistance and finish artwork with Golden Archival Varnish for protection.

I was born in 1966 and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, before moving to Florence, Italy in 1977, where I lived until 1992. I currently live on the South Coast of the UK. My first memory as an ‘artist’ came when I was 9 and Sr Assumpta, Headmistress at Holy Cross Sisters’ Junior School in Bellville praised me in front of the whole school assembly for the mural that I had made which was displayed above the entrance to the school hall.
