"aND HeRe YoU aRE" Painting

Laura was born in Papua New Guinea and grew up in France & England. She graduated with a degree in Fashion print design from Ravensbourne college of Design and Communication London. She was awarded 1st prize at Graduate fashion week from The Society of Dyers & colourists. She has Interned at Alexander McQueen, Freelanced for London fashion designer Giles Deacon and later became the bridal wholesale account manager at Amanda Wakeley London. Following the birth of her son she made the decision to return to her original passion of art.She uses brush strokes, splashes and density of pigment to create an emotional response to her work. Colours are layered on the page using mixed media with movement that derives from her personal feelings and mood. Particular attention is paid to how different combinations of light and colour awakens different senses and emotions. Over time our minds merge and distort our past and with this a newness can be created. Memories from extensive traveling are translated. You will often see a soft translucent subtleness against strong, bold colour. This is how she preserves "life", a fragile feeling and emotion hidden inside a bold presence. Without one there isn't the other.
