Living in the vibrant Lanham, Maryland, community, just outside Washington, DC, Chandler blends his background in graphic design and a Master's in Education seamlessly into vibrant works that celebrate the unfiltered world of Abstract Expressionism. His experience spans military service, and years with both private and public sectors, enriching his artistic voice. His work, with palettes that seem to dance across the painting surface is a testament to his unique vision — where his unplanned, intuitive marks become narratives of movement and emotion, captivating the soul of the beholder. More than just visual, his art is a shared discovery, an invitation to experience art as a reflection of one’s innermost thoughts and dreams. Chandler’s works grace private and corporate collections. Celebrated exhibitions across the U.S. and commissioned public works, like "Encryptions" and "Sgraffito" installed in the lobby at The Hotel - The University of Maryland, highlight his artistic impact. His meticulously created works promise to invigorate both your personal and professional spaces. “I start each painting with no pre-conceived idea of what the end result will be. It’s a spontaneous and intuitive process (a personal journey of discovery) that I enjoy, and until I make that first mark on the canvas or paper, I don’t always know what colors or shapes I’ll use, which adds an authentic, honest and organic layer to my work. “I use various acrylics, sometimes fabrics and found objects within and behind shapes, patterns and lines to move from one mark to the next. I use traditional bristle brushes and unconventional tools -- from spray bottles, self-made stencils and combs to kitchen utensils -- which fuels my creativity. Using mediums and gels available today, I blend my own unique color mixtures.” Chandler intentionally titles many of his paintings with words similar to bits of poetry that convey feelings and intangible concepts. A somewhat less prominent, but no less fascinating component of his paintings is the contrasting sides of the canvases. Painting patterns on the sides of his canvases gives viewers a full 180-degree experience. If you have questions related to Chandler's work, feel free to contact him.
