Academist - Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2016) Honoured Artist of RF (Awarded the title Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation in 2001) Karakhan was born in 1957 in Dagestan, on the shores of the Caspian Sea. He was educated in Moscow. In 1980 he graduated from the graphic arts faculty of the State Pedagogical Institute in Moscow. He studied painting with leading professors of the Russian Academy. The artist works in the style of expressionism. Member of the Moscow Union of Artists. Karakhan began exhibition activities in 1982 and he is a regular participant at Russian and international exhibitions in Europe, India, the USA, China and other countries. In 1994 the artwork of Karakhan Seferbekov was awarded the Grand Prix de Peinture du Castellet (Paris, France). As part of a group of prominent artists from Russia he participated in an exhibition held in 1998 in several European cities, Paris, Brussels and Berlin, and was awarded the diploma of this exhibition. In December 1999 his solo exhibition ‘At the Turn of the Century’ took place in Moscow under the auspices of the International Confederation of Artists’ Unions. In 2001 he was awarded the title Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation for the series of Tibetan works included in many Russian and foreign catalogues. According to the results of a personal exhibition in 2004, Karakhan Seferbekov was enrolled among the permanent residents of the Paris workshops Cité internationale des Arts in Paris. Every year Karakhan Seferbekov holds several solo exhibitions in Moscow. After many years working as an artist Karakhan Seferbekov has produced thousands of paintings that now adorn galleries and private collections in Russia, France, Germany, Italy, Austria, Holland, Finland, Sweden, the USA, the United Arab Emirates, India, China, Japan, Australia, Thailand, Vietnam and other countries.
