ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Corn and quelite, two important ingredients in Mexican food. I made this painting after a corn that grew in my garden, "rolling" it in my scanner. It looks to me like the idea of how our ancestors considered corn: a mutation. This work is part of a series I made in 2020 when, facing the social distancing, my studio in Real del Monte grew towards the garden. During this time I planted some of the food that my family and I eat. I consider food and cultivation as an artistic activity.
