Louise Van der Bijl (Ross) (b. 1984) completed a BA Fine Arts degree at the University of the Witwatersrand (2007) in Johannesburg, South Africa. She currently lives and works in The Hague, The Netherlands. Memory Game her first solo exhibition was held at the Ithuba Arts Gallery, Braamfontein in 2014. She has exhibited on numerous group exhibitions including Hello New Beginnings, Ferrairsdorp, Johannseburg (2016), Joburg Joburg, Corner House Johannesburg (2014); Degrees of Separation, Absa Gallery, Johannesburg (2014); Diptych, Braamfontein (2013), The JoburgFringe, Braamfontein, (2012); The Ithuba Arts fund Exhibition, Johannesburg (2011); The Art of Assemblage, side exhibition at JoburgFringe (2011); Sites of Memory, The Thompson Gallery, Johannesburg (2008); Collaborations, Johannesburg (2007); and Work in Progress at a Sandton construction site (2007). She worked as the gallery manager of Brodie/Stevenson gallery from 2008-2010. In 2010 she co-founded a non-profit and collaborative artists’ organisation named Assemblage, which sought to assist artists in Johannesburg encouraging collaboration, sharing and creating. She ran Assemblage until its closure in 2019.
