The series entitled "Cosmo-Telluric Networks" is based on the search for harmony through nature and the four elements: wind, rain, earth and fire. These elements express their differences through their colors and the energetic power that emanates from them. Throughout this period of creativity, I wanted to establish an aesthetic balance between earth and fire, earth and water and earth and air. Through these dualities, I sought to create an energetic harmony between the elements, to overcome their independent powers in order to achieve a gentle balance and a complementary relationship between them. If harmony reigns strong, wild beauty is nested in moments of renewal, revolutions and violent jolts of change. The Cosmo-Telluric networks present a space where the red energies of the earth and the blue energies of the sky have reached the softness of purple. They have thus managed to spread their combined and harmonized forces to sustain a range of complementary relationships. This "pictorial event" also takes shape through the "encounter" between the elements of painting and creative energy. "Encounter" seems to me to be the most appropriate word for this contact. It is an encounter between the real and the imaginary, the visible and the invisible, or if one prefers, between spirit and matter.

Through her work, Maryam Shams creates a connection between humankind and its divine nature. Her passion for painting appeared very early on with her search for identity and questioning of the purpose of her life to give it meaning. She owes this mysticism in part to her Persian origins and her spiritual and artistic influences. Her paintings are the result of years of research beginning with studying and experimenting with academic techniques including portraiture, landscape and nudes. Then came the study of movement in ink, in which her aim was to fix the ephemeral in Parisian circuses. The artist then experimented with material, colour, collage and writing. Over time, her expression became freer and more abstract, more introspective too, as if this long aesthetic research marked the stages of a profound spiritual transformation. Maryam Shams has now found her own style free from imposed frameworks. The message of the work is presented as an enigma; the solution is left to the viewer’s intuition.
