ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Liminal: 1. relating to a transitional or initial stage of a process. 2. occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold. With these I attempted to reach a middle point between a material surface and an illusional space; control versus disruption, and the use of natural phenomena to produce depth and dimension. ---- With a background in the arts and philosophy, Benjamin is deeply interested in the use of art as tangible, acting theories of knowledge. His work has been exhibited in the US and Japan, garnering features and awards. Benjamin's paintings are noted for their epistemic bearing in the questions that they invoke. Concept, process and visual outcome align as one in the making of his work, providing a physical object that witnesses through its own self-evidence. Each series is a study into what can be known, what door can be cracked open to reveal realization and reassessment. Benjamin's exploration of inquiry has led him into many avenues including invention of process, abstract landscape, digital-as-manual, and geological realism.

Benjamin Adelmann
United States
Adelmann is deeply interested in the use of art as a study tool for investigations into epistemology and metaphysics. His practice challenges diametric structures related to physical and spiritual, seen and unseen, and heaven and earth. Adelmann explores the proposition of a supernal universe that precedes these maxims, established from studies in ancient history, religion and philosophy. In 2011, Adelmann received a BA in Philosophical Studies at CSU Northridge. After a year in an assistantship to a prominent artist, Adelmann was selected to attend the SSPI Painting Program at Tyler School of Art. He's shown in galleries from Tokyo to New York, and has been interviewed by critic Anthony Haden-Guest (who famously was the last to interview Basquiat) and curator Kate Mothes, among others. Benjamin has been active in shows and publications for the past 10 years. He lives and works in Washington USA.
