What/who inspired the work? The inspiration for "Girl on the Street" came from my travels through various small towns in China. The bustling streets, the unique architecture, and the daily life of the people there left a profound impression on me. The girl sitting in the center of the artwork, gazing up at the sky, symbolizes a moment of peace and contemplation amidst the hustle and bustle of city life. This piece is part of my "Moment of Silence" series, which explores the quiet, introspective moments we experience even in the busiest of places. What do you hope its viewers will feel/think? I hope viewers of "Girl on the Street" will feel a sense of tranquility and reflection. The juxtaposition of a serene figure against the backdrop of a lively street scene invites the audience to pause and consider their own moments of quiet amidst their daily routines. I want the viewers to think about the importance of finding peace and taking a moment to look up and appreciate the world around them, no matter how busy life gets. Why did you choose the medium, subject matter, style? I chose to use a mixed media approach, combining acrylic and watercolor pencils, to bring this piece to life because it allows for both boldness and subtlety in the artwork. The acrylic paint provides vibrant colors and strong lines, capturing the energy of the city, while the watercolor pencils add delicate details and softness to the girl's figure, emphasizing her calmness. The subject matter, focusing on an urban street scene with a central, contemplative figure, aligns with my artistic goal of highlighting the beauty in everyday moments. The style, a blend of realism and impressionism, helps convey the dynamic yet peaceful essence of the scene.
