ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Large multi-panelled artwork in mixed media (acrylic and oil paint, textile: antique Japanese kimono). I am happy to mention that Sakura has been featured in 'A Softer Side: Textiles' Collection on Saatchi Art curated by Victoria Kennedy, Associate Curator on August 5, 2019. This collection has 'A focus on art that incorporates the most important everyday materials - natural fibers, textiles, and thread!'. Look it up if you like under Collections on Saatchi Art. This artwork consists of different pieces of canvas mounted together. Part of the Reconstructed series and my ongoing Zen Studies. I found inspiration from cherry blossom ('Sakura' in Japanese) which is shown on the silk piece of antique Japanese kimono that I used in this artwork. Certificate of Authenticity included. Signed on the back. Varnished for protection. Ready to hang, no frame required. The stability of the artwork is guaranteed, since solid mounting material and extra wooden plates are used at the back.

'Describing her work as Lyrical abstraction, Krisztina Horvath creates expressive and intuitive paintings which lay bare upon the canvas, composed of frenetic brushstrokes and communicative marks in paint. Although working predominantly in acrylic and oil, other kinds of media such as ink, spray paint, graphite and oil bar also play their part in her creative process. Titles are an important aspect of the artist’s works as it allows us a glimpse into the underlying thoughts, feelings and reference sources that have driven her while creating the abstract piece. Climate change, environmental issues and the problematic human impacts to life on earth are all subjects that move Horvath to create new paintings, using the abstract expressionistic style to express modern social issues and raise awareness through her art. Born in Hungary, Horvath has lived in the Netherlands since childhood. recently her work has been shown in Brussels, Milan and New York.' Inside Artist Magazine.
