ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Created for Bad Dog Editions and available as a recolorized print. An exploration of color and movement to suggest the interactions of energies that connect us to our individual and collective journeys. A challenge to the notion of 'wrong', and if it really exists. 'Wrong Turn' has a mate, 'Collective Darling' and is part of the mini series, 'And Yet We Are'.

I am an innately curious observer of life trying my best to understand my own nature. Art has been a tool for the exploration of self and other since childhood and continues to be an aid in making sense of my world. Even during periods of inactivity in the 'art' world (gallery showings, etc.), my mind and hands find ways to construct and deconstruct, to arrange and create and adjust. This is in me, and defines how I navigate life. I am interested in the fallibility of memory, manipulations, duality, construction, fluidity, collage, materials, isolation and voyeuristic tendencies. My work recognizes memory, even experience, as fiction and attempts to expose fluctuations between the real and the imagined. Reevaluation of absolutism is a necessity. Recently, process and materials have become a focal point for me, an outlet to immediacy and in some ways, an expression of greater authenticity. These works are an exploration of a visceral, more base nature: physicality, intuition, sensuality....often, the other side of intellect and introspection as raw curiosity. The work involves the use of several visual languages that both compete and connect with one another. My use of materials ranging from textiles, paint, text, and audio/film elements constructs a forum to explore larger themes with innate curiosity and fluid speech. These languages hold meaning in themselves and lend to the larger narrative of each piece which is not intended to be defined. I am the strangest stranger I know.
