Dreamer Painting

“Dreamer” is an abstract urban cityscape painting. It’s female figure is a small detail on the unusual street lights that line Wilshire Boulevard near Downtown Los Angeles. The metal leaf, boxy halo behind her is a translation of the shape of the lantern that tops the light pole. I chose the subject of lamp posts as way to share a sense of optimistic interconnectedness with the world around me through the expression of beauty, history and public shared public experiences. This pop-art styled artwork is composed entirely of fragmented, visual elements of the street light utilizing hand cut stencils made from drawings, aerosol paint and metal leaf on translucent acrylic sheet. The mixed media painting can be displayed individually or in clusters and can be mounted against a wall, hung away from a wall, suspended from a ceiling.
