The purpose of the art is to fix the problem of people feeling trivial in the world. Humans tend to look at the night sky and imagine the universe as if it was a faraway, cold, empty space. We are coming to the realization that we are part of this universe just as much as everything else is. Very similarly we often look at nature as some sort of entity far from us, something that we would have to go somewhere deep into the woods to experience. This makes us feel small and disconnected from nature. We now understand that utilizing telescopes and microscopes we only observe a small part of the universe, which is making us feel even smaller. In this art we are looking at a planet that is normally large and yet being presented as tiny. Viewing this “small” art in a “large” universe should start a conversation about the importance of small things. We allow the art to bring the cosmos into our homes (literally and figuratively), by crashing a tiny planet through the wall. Every time we think of ourselves as small entities in the universe, this art needs to remind us that small things can be very important. It is possible that our species is the best chance for the universe to understand itself. Humans being this small and possibly this important should make us feel larger than life. Thus the name of the art: “Larger than life”.
