ABOUT THE ARTWORK
On my second day visiting Shirahige shrine and lake Biwa, I shot this image of the torii gate from the side. On a sunny day the sun would rise from behind the gate and make for a very colorful image, but on this particular morning the light was faded and the sun never really come out, which helped creating a more ethereal look. Even from this side the gate is very elegant and balanced in its simplicity. The original is printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Satin 310 gsm 100% Cotton white satin-finish paper and manually signed at the bottom.
